The winemaker, Olivier Muzart

Hello everyone and welcome to our website,
I have the pleasure to welcome you on our website of my family estate, the château Clos Mignon. I’ll let you discover our history and wines of protected appellation of origin Fronton AOC through its pages, and hope to see you soon at Clos to taste our wines.

I represent the third generation of the Muzart family to continue the domaine of the château Clos Mignon. The family adventure started in 1952 when my grandfather purchased the domain. After having known a certain wine notoriety at the end of the 19th century, the domaine was in mixed and dairy farming, and the wines were sold to local trading. Roger Muzart turned to fruit producing, quite prosperous at the time, and wine-cultivation, delivering the entire production of fruits and grapes to the winery cooperative of Villaudric. After his bankruptcy in the 80s, his two sons, Guy and Michel, on short notice got started in winemaking, and selling at the domaine. The success was immediate, all the production was locally sold !

I grew up on the domaine, helping in the summer to fruit harvest. I then moved away, for my studies first, and then for a stay in USA, and a first job in a business bank, but the routine of a desk job wasn’t for me, and decided to come back to my parents to work in 1994. The passage to year 2000 is very symbolic, because this is the year that I became head of the domain. Now a winemaker, it is alongside with my wife Isabelle that we raise the fourth generation, Valentine and Mathias Muzart, on the land of their ancestors.

Just as my grandfather and father did, I punctually show my wines in competitions, or submit them to qualified oenologists for opinions, whom regularly reward me with a medal or a good review in a wine guide. To be rewarded is not my goal, but however it is despite all the recognition of a whole life commitment.

My primary goal remains the satisfaction of my clients, knowing how to give my wine the typicity of my terroir, combined with finesse wine making. To better appreciate our wines, we occasionally set up or upon request events such as small concerts and readings around samples of food and wine tasting. This is a nice way to make our domain known, but also, all ways to honor wine which allows us sharing and togetherness. We also offer very simple lunch meals, with platters of cold meats and cheeses. As for my long-term projects ? Broaden my clientele around various events, and why not, push the boundaries and allow a maximum of people to discover the tastes and richness of the Frontonnais terroir.
